What do I get with this course?
The course starts with the introduction to the literary advice “show, don’t tell” after which we offer seven chapters: emotions, motivations, weak verbs, filter verbs, adverbs, adjectives, and telling. In each chapter, we explain the theory and provide examples, one for each of the six techniques for turning telling into showing. The first six chapters end with six exercises each testing the understanding of the covered chapter. After the chapter on telling, you get additional exercises that test the complete understanding of all chapters covered in the course.
What are the technical requirements for this course?
You need to be able to read and understand English, as all course content and exercises are written in English. You need an internet connection. No special software or downloads are required.
What are the AI-validated writing exercises, and how do they work?
We prepared six telling sentences for each chapter. You submit your rewrites in the text input box. AI catches common pitfalls of telling and highlights the words in the submitted sentence. When you hover over the highlighted word, you can read the advice that explains how you can improve the writing.
Do I need any prior writing experience to join?
